Each of my creations are pieces of myself meant to go out in the world and bring joy and smiles to who ever happens upon them.

I cannot image my life without Art. Early on as a child I wanted nothing to do with Barbies or baby dolls. For me it was all about Crayola, Spirograph, Lite-Brite and Etch A Sketch. At the ripe old age of four I declared myself an Artist to anyone who questioned “What do you want to be when you grow up?” It wasn't until I was in my thirties that I discovered a love for clay.

Recently, since 2017 I have at new art obsession: Mosaics, adhering ceramic tiles, glass and found objects to the surface of defunct surfboards and other substrates. Some of these creations can be found poolside serving as shower backers or simply wall mounted for decoration.  My creativy is fueled by solving the challenges of design, placement, seemingly endless array of materials and color palette inherent of mosaic puzzles.

Previous to making mosaics I created pottery which featured surface decoration that paid homage to my beginnings as an illustrator. After throwing porcelain forms on the potters wheel I would apply black slip and carve through to the white beneath in a process known as sgraffito. The images that I enjoyed carving included birds, fish, plants and other animals. Basically anything found in nature.

By stacking various small ceramic forms I was able to create larger, sculptural-like statements with my garden totems. These totems are based on memories of journeys in nature. The recollection might be shelling on the beach, hiking in the mountains or running through the rows of plantings in my grandparents' nursery business.

Currently I reside in St Petersburg Florida with my husband and our white Boxer puppy Alfie. My studio is set up for mosaic work. A kiln and a potter's wheel hang out in our garage just in case I decide to make pottery again...someday, maybe, we'll see.
